Wedding Make-up Done Right

There are many different components to a bride’s stunning appearance; the dress is by far the most notable element, then of course there are great accessories…jewelry, shoes, maybe a veil or flower in the hair. These first components are gathered and put together in-advance, just waiting for that special day. The final touches last only for a short moment but are key in that final presentation. There is the manicure/pedicure, then the fabulous hairstyle and the make-up. Ah, yes, the make-up, such a simple yet very key element. Good make-up takes a great artist. One that can see each bride’s vision and be able to make it a reality. So with this final element in mind, I want to introduce you to the fabulous work of Christine Wheaton from Femme Akoi!. A make-up artist that is truly extraordinary. Christine brought several models over to our studio and I was able to see her in action. Her arsenal of make-up spread out across the table, the rack hung with wardrobe changes, and then, my favorite, the most unique and amazing headpieces that Christine had designed and created. I kind of had this idea I knew how to do make-up, I mean I’ve been wearing it long enough, but when I saw the master at work, I realized I hadn’t even got my toes wet! There is a whole other level of make-up that takes you from looking good, to looking spectacular! Below are some of my favorites from the shoot, photographed by my amazingly talented husband. :)

Tampa Doubletree Promo Shoot

We were so happy to be asked to do a promotional photo shoot of the Doubletree Guest Suites Tampa Bay. It’s an interesting change of pace photographing a ceremony with no bride/groom and a reception with no guests. Feels like something’s missing for sure. But sort of a fun contrast to the regular weekend shoots where there actually ARE guests, a bride, a groom, music, laughter, etc. We’ll call it a little bit of yin-yang.

But more about the shoot–we had the great pleasure of working with two of our favorite people: Matt & Amanda from MMD Events. They are incredibly versatile people and artists…and on that note, an impromptu Top 10 List:

More Work in Brides Florida Magazine

I almost forgot…we also did a really fun catering photo shoot for a great catering company in the Tampa Bay area. They were so happy with the images they used them as the artwork for their Brides Florida Magazine ad! I’ve attached a copy of their ad below for you to see. And the best thing about a food photo shoot??…free food! Oh, and for all of you brides-to-be out there? Do yourselves a favor and get in touch with Lauren from Catering by Design. They are all so sweet and wonderful, the food is great and beautiful (great for pictures) and they do an awesome job. They also offer monthly food tastings for prospective brides, or anyone else who’s considering using their stellar services. So check that one off your list–aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, doesn’t that feel good??

Ship Shape Clothing | Commercial Shoot

A few weeks ago Christine from Ship Shape Clothing asked if we’d be willing to do some shoots for their company to help launch their fresh new line of designs (really great t’s, unique designs–great stuff). We like to keep our styles fresh and constantly evolving by shooting commercial and other work alongside our regular engagement and wedding work, so of course we accepted! We decided to shoot it on Clearwater Beach and we got it all set up. The whole shoot was LOTS of fun. A huge thanks to the three wonderful models: Myranda, Samantha and Ciarra, and also to Eli and Christine from Ship Shape for your professionalism, being so fun to work with and also for your ninja-stealth video shooting skills that captured this great product shoot promo footage! Can’t wait for round 2, 3 4….

Catering By Design Food Shoot!

Okay this was just an awesome shoot. First off, when I was just a wee little lad, I wanted to be a chef. And even though I never pursued that as a line of work, I still have a deep respect for good food and an aesthetic presentation. So what better way to nurture my love for food than by doing an awesome food shoot for an amazing catering company in the area — Catering By Design. We just dropped off the final edits at their office earlier today, so watch for them in their upcoming promo–we hope they use them!! Either way, it was a blast working with Lauren (both Laurens, actually), and I got to eat some of the “food models” after we were done…BONUS!! Here they are:

The NACE “Event of Events”!

For those of you who don’t know, NACE (which stands for National Association of Catering Professionals), is an incredible group of professionals who keep the wedding (and other events) industry standards high by creating educational and fun meeting and networking opportunities for its members. The Florida West Coast NACE chapter is the one that K&K Photography is a part of, and we have really loved being members. We were asked to speak on a panel of local vendors, sharing our industry insight with the rest of the local chapter, about 150 people. It was a BLAST! And the decor and lighting was INCREDIBLE (thanks to conceptBAIT, Inc and Bay Stage Lighting). Also, the beautiful new ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Westshore couldn’t have been a more perfect location for the event.

K&K Photography was also asked to professionally document the decor, so here are some of the images we captured from the evening. Enjoy–we sure did!!

East Lake Woodlands Country Club–Affordable Elegance

We were asked recently to shoot some interiors of a job that Jered Snelson from Urban Kitchen and Bath recently completed, and we were absolutely blown away with the quality and unique custom designs that Jered had come up with.
