Custom Designed Save-The-Dates

I realized that it’s a little known fact that we design custom save-the-date cards and magnets. I’ve never written about it or have shown any on the blog! Silly me! Well, graphic design is one of my loves and I’ve been designing holiday cards, birth announcements, and invitations for myself, friends and family for years, but recently realized that I need to offer our lovely brides and grooms something too! Because I put a great deal of importance in the photograph, I design the cards so they enhance the photo and add to the over-all communication. Most save-the-dates are templates that the photo is placed into and I have found that quite often (1) the design is too busy and takes away from the photo, (2) many times the colors don’t quite work with the image, somewhat clashing and (3) the photo is just TOO small or there is a little collage of tiny tiny pictures that you have to squint at to see. This is why I started designing save-the-dates. You have to see the photo and the design needs to enhance it, not take away! When your guests receive their save-the-date, the card should make them even more excited about the wedding to come and the wonderful couple.

Here are a couple of our save-the date designs. First here’s the magnet designs. The magnets are 3″x4.5″.

Wouldn’t you just love to have something like that on your fridge?!

Ok, and now my favorite, the cards. I love these because they are unique and pretty. They are flat cards, printed on both sides on pearl card stock. We make them in two sizes, either 4×6 or 5×7.

This is the front of the card. See, it’s clean and simple and all about the photograph! I mean you could frame it!

Then on the back is all the information nicely laid out. Not cramped and crammed in. I usually have these printed with rounded corners and it just adds that final touch!

……… . So if you are having an engagement session done by K&K we’d be happy to design a custom save-the-date card or magnet. It will stand out from the standard save-the-dates and enhance your beautiful engagement photo. 🙂

We are so excited about K&K designing our save-the-dates! We know they are going to turn out to be amazing and definitely make an impression on our guests! Thanks for blogging about your custom designs and all that you have to offer your brides and grooms.

Tampa Doubletree Promo Shoot

We were so happy to be asked to do a promotional photo shoot of the Doubletree Guest Suites Tampa Bay. It’s an interesting change of pace photographing a ceremony with no bride/groom and a reception with no guests. Feels like something’s missing for sure. 🙂 But sort of a fun contrast to the regular weekend shoots where there actually ARE guests, a bride, a groom, music, laughter, etc. We’ll call it a little bit of yin-yang.

But more about the shoot–we had the great pleasure of working with two of our favorite people: Matt & Amanda from MMD Events. They are incredibly versatile people and artists…and on that note, an impromptu Top 10 List:

Top 10 Things We Like About MMD Events

10. They’re funny

9. They make delicious ravioli

8. They’re a married working couple, just like us (and more importantly, they LIKE to work together, just like us)

7. They have fun board games

6. They’re not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get dirty

5. They tell it like it is

4. By making the event beautiful they make our job easy

3. They create amazing pieces by mixing floral and decor elements

2. We both have funny stories about a squirrel

1. They (well, Amanda–sorry Matt) make delicious black-cherry upside down cake!

Beautiful pics Jeff…Absolutely gorgeous. You have a great eye for detail and the “Suncoast” has the most beautiful sunsets!! Thus, the Sarasota, Tampa Bay region….used to be my home…I love it there, it’s Paradise.
